John 13:34; A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Is anyone else getting burnt out on social media lately? I feel like every time I’m scrolling through my feed I’m overwhelmed with negativity towards a certain group of people. Democrats against Republicans. Women against men. Women against women. Men against women. The separation goes on and on.

And to the people posting positive things, people on the other end of the phone are talking negatively about how much you post or how little you post. And some who will have negative comments about this very post I’m writing now.

I guess I’m just stepping on my soapbox this Sunday to say that I wish it wasn’t that way. I wish people could just come together and love one another. We don’t have to agree on everything. We don’t have to believe the same things. We don’t even have to like each other.

I know that sounds a little backwards with my scripture for today, “Love one another.” But my mama used to say, “I love you, but I don’t like you right now.” and I think that’s applicable to this situation.

We need to see the bigger picture. It doesn’t matter where you live, what political party you belong to, how much melanin you have in your skin, your economic status, relationship status, or religion. We are all on this Earth together.

So wouldn’t it be nice if we weren’t at each other’s throats 24/7? Maybe I live in a fantasy world, but I like to think that we could all take a step back and look at a situation from another’s point of view. Some times when I’m in a public place, I like to look around at the people and just appreciate them. I appreciate them for being there. For living their life. And I hope they have a good day and that someone makes them feel loved.

I know that’s super sappy, but I challenge you to try it this week. These 5 days we have left until Valentine’s day it’s easy to think about the people we know and love. But I challenge you to love a stranger from afar, whether that be in person or on social media. You don’t have to say anything or even do anything. Just change your mindset. Love them just for being there and sharing your space. I think you might find that the world is full of beautiful people.

Just love more. Every day.
